Temptation is part of being human. It can appear in the middle of an ordinary day. A thought we entertain, a feeling we hold onto, or a desire that slowly pulls our hearts away from God. We all carry so many emotions, responsibilities, and dreams, and sometimes our hearts search for comfort in places that cannot truly satisfy. But the closer we grow to Jesus, the more our hearts begin to recognize what is truly good.
It is a little like caring deeply for someone. The more time you spend with them, the more familiar their voice becomes. Your heart naturally leans toward them. In the same way, as we spend time with Jesus, our hearts become more attuned to Him. His voice becomes clearer, His presence becomes sweeter, and the things that once pulled us away begin to lose their hold. Other things that once seemed so appealing begin to fade because something deeper has captured your attention.
That is what happens when we spend time with Christ. We don’t overcome temptation only by trying harder. We overcome by loving Jesus more. By filling our hearts with His presence, His Word, and His truth.
Temptation may still knock, but it does not have to lead us. A heart that is rooted in Christ will always find its way back home.

Lord, draw my heart closer to You. Help me desire Your presence more than the things that compete for my attention. Teach me to walk with You, trust You, and find my deepest joy in You. Amen.
